As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I have come to understand that the basis of good mental health is feeling safe. Feeling safe in a stressful, overwhelming world can be very hard to do. My job is try to get to the source of what is having people feel that they are unsafe, whether it be their dynamic with their partner, their history of trauma, or their own perspective on the world around them and their relationship to it. I have been working with individuals, couples, families and teens for 20 years in a variety of different modalities including traditional talk therapy, art therapy, trauma work, family systems work, and EMDR to name a few, to help shift people into a more peaceful place within themselves.
There is a vast array of issues that I work with in therapy:
*Anxiety/depression
*Trauma & Abuse
*Adjusting to Life Changes
*Relationship Issues
*Codependency and Addictions
*Couples Counseling
*Parenting guidance, including twice exceptional/spectrum disorder kids and teens
*Post Partum
*LGBTQ & Diversity
*PTSD
*Grief
*Support for chronic health issues
I find that the safety of the therapeutic relationship is the vehicle for the change and growth to occur, therefore, it is very important to me to provide a space where people feel unconditionally supported in their growth and empathetic, non-judgmental understanding the their context...including some humor along the way!
I am looking forward to getting to know and learn you so that I can become a change agent of good mental health in your life!
